Quantum Solutions develops and manufactures quantum dot materials and technology for image sensors and displays. Since the company establishment in 2017, we have been supplying products and partnering with hundreds of companies and universities. Our innovative QDot™ materials and technology can be found in industrial devices around the world.

Our development and manufacturing site is located in Southampton Science Park, United Kingdom. Southampton Science Park is the South of England’s home to successful science and technology businesses that empowers disruptive organizations to break through and prosper.

Our Mission and Vision

Our mission is to "Make Invisible Visible". We do it by developing and introducing new quantum dot (QDot™) technologies for image sensors and displays. In image sensors, quantum dots allow to capture and image the light invisible to the naked eye: lower energy near infrared (NIR) lights or higher energy UV and X-ray lights. Cameras powered with quantum dots benefit in various applications: machine vision (quality inspections and control, food security, pharmaceuticals), automotive, security, consumer electronics (smartphones and AR/VR headsets). We envision that cameras with such augmented vision will be the mainstream in our society in near future.

Our Technology

Quantum Solutions is a spin-off from prestigious and highly-sited Prof. Osman Bakr research group, who is one of the frontliners in quantum dot field. Quantum Dots are nanomaterials with outstanding photoluminescence, electroluminescence and photoelectrical properties. Quantum Solutions' QDot™ Quantum Dots serve as an active materials in image sensors (Near Infrared and X-ray cameras) and displays. The technologies are protected with more than 20 granted and pending patents.

Our Team

We are the experts who push the technological frontiers. Our interdisciplinary team consists of specialists from scientific, R&D and business backgrounds in the fields of nanochemistry and nanomaterials. Our team and advisory board represent 9 countries and have 9 PhDs on the board.

Dr. Osman Bakr
Founder/Chairman

Osman M. Bakr is Professor of Materials Science and Engineering and head of the Functional Nanomaterials Laboratory at KAUST. He earned a B.Sc. in Materials Science and Engineering from MIT (2003) as well as an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Harvard (2009). The Functional Nanomaterials Laboratory, founded by Osman Bakr in 2010, works on the design and self-assembly of hybrid and inorganic materials to generate breakthrough applications in solar energy harvesting and optoelectronic devices. Bakr has published over 200 articles in premiere international peer-reviewed research journals, including Science, Nature Energy, and Journal of the American Chemical Society.

Osman Bakr was selected as a Young Scientist by the World Economic Forum (2016) and serves on the editorial boards of several leading journals of the American Chemical Society. He was named an Innovator Under 35 in the Arab World by the MIT Technology Review- Arab Edition (2016); one of the ten leading university researchers world-wide in the area of perovskite solar cells by the Times Higher Education (2018); and a Highly Cited Researcher by the Web of Science Group (2019).

Marat Lutfullin
CEO

Marat Lutfullin is a CEO of QUANTUM SOLUTIONS. Marat Lutfullin holds a M.S. and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Moscow State University. He also holds M.S. in Project Management from Higher School of Economics. He has experience in startup and industrial companies in chemical fields. In 2016 he joined King Abdullah University of Science and Technology and help to establish startup company QUANTUM SOLUTIONS based on KAUST advanced research in Quantum Dots.

Lutfan Sinatra
VP of Product Development

Lutfan Sinatra is the VP of Product Development in QUANTUM SOLUTIONS. He earned his PhD in Material Science and Engineering from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST, Saudi Arabia). He also received his MS in photonics from Abbe School of Photonics at Friedrich-Schiller University Jena, where he studied about light and nanoparticles interactions. Over the past 10 years, his research have been focusing on the nanomaterials synthesis and their applications.

Sergio Lentijo Mozo
Director of Manufacturing

Sergio Lentijo Mozo is a Director of Manufacturing of QUANTUM SOLUTIONS. Sergio Lentijo received his postugraduate MSc (2004) and his Ph.D. (2009) in Chemistry (Organometallic Chemistry Area) from the University of Valladolid in Spain. Prior to joining QUANTUM SOLUTIONS, he developed his career as a researcher in the area of Nanochemistry in different international research centres, from LPCNO institute, INSA Toulouse (France) to KAUST, BESE department (Saudi Arabia). In 2018 he joined the startup company QUANTUM SOLUTIONS , and in 2020 he was in charge with other members of the company to set up as a subsidiary, the company from Saudi Arabia to United Kingdom.

ADVISORY BOARD
Dr. Erik Scher

Erik Scher is a serial entrepreneur and executive who has spent the last two decades starting and serving in leadership roles at multiple venture-backed nanomaterials companies. He specializes in taking novel technologies from concept to commercial products, and has done so in industries ranging from energy and petrochemicals, to displays and specialty polymers in consumer products. He most recently served as COO for Siluria Technologies Inc. (now Lummus Technology) where he oversaw R&D, IP, scale-up, and operations of Siluria’s commercial demonstration plant. He currently serves in strategic advisory, board member, and executive roles at numerous companies at various stages of commercialization ranging from inception to commercial product sales. Erik studied chemistry at Rice University and received his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley.

Dr. David Schut

David Schut is VP of Technology in Synexis Biodefense Systems (US) and has numerous years of experience in the product development for such companies as Shoei Electronic Material, Voxtel and HP focusing on new quantum dots for optoelectronics. David Schut studied chemistry in Texas Wesleyan University and Oklahoma State University and received PhD from University of Oregon.

Dr. Liberato Manna

Liberato Manna is the Deputy Director for Materials and Nanotechnology programs at the Italian Institute of Technology in Genova (Italy). Dr. Manna has an extensive background in quantum dots, having been involved in many research projects and having received major grants. Previously, Liberato Manna was a postdoctoral fellow in University of California, Berkeley and worked as a researcher in National Nanotechnology. Liberato Manna received his MS and PhD in chemistry from University of Bari, Italy.

Dr. Maksym V. Kovalenko

Maksym V. Kovalenko is a professor of inorganic chemistry at ETH Zurich and also a researcher at Empa (Switzerland). His research group focuses on the synthesis of diverse quantum dot materials and other functional inorganic materials. Prior to joining ETH, Maksym Kovalenko was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Chicago and received PhD in chemistry from Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria.

Dr. Omar F. Mohammed

Omar F. Mohammed is an Associate Professor at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He is an expert in optoelectronic devices and Ultrafast Laser Spectroscopy and Four-dimensional Electron Imaging. His research is directed towards fundamental understanding of charge carrier dynamics in a variety of optoelectronic materials including semiconductor quantum dots, polymers and perovskite nanostructures with different dimensionalities. Prior to joining KAUST. Professor Mohammed was a senior research associate with Professor Zewail (Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1999) at California Institute of Technology (Caltech), USA. Prior to his arrival in Pasadena, California, Dr. Mohammed spent more than a decade in Germany, Switzerland and Japan, embarking on the development of new laser spectroscopic techniques for direct observation of many chemical and physical processes in real time. Dr. Mohammed received his PhD in Physical Chemistry from Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany.

Our Quality Control

At Quantum Solutions, we understand the need for high grade QDot™ Quantum Dots. Our quantum dots are never sourced, and always created in-house using proprietary technology. Our high standards of quality control help us to sustain premium quality Quantum Dots. Our facilities have the state-of-the-art equipment for QDs characterization and quality control that include more than 15 types of the materials characterization.
